You could also say that most of us like men (if the estimate that 10% of people are homosexual is accurate). Gay individuals are already throwing a huge piece of the gender norm puzzle out the window. It probably doesn't phase them much to ignore other pieces of what's "normal" or "correct." (and I think we all have a lot to learn from them on that). Of course, people make the converse argument all the time: why are so many heterosexual women attracted to feminine-looking men (Matt Damon, boy-band types) instead of masculine-looking ones? At the end of the day I think there's one safe answer to almost every question: people are fricken weird.
