so i have spent the better part of the morning learning about arizona tax laws for businesses and licenses and forms for purchasing things for personal use v. resale and how to be exempt from paying taxes on some items and not others. this is so not my specialty. i have the licenses i need, i’m just trying to figure out the forms for buying items for resale. you’d think that would be simple. unfortunately, and i guess not surprising, i’ve found lots of weird lingo and things that seem to say the same thing but really mean something different. so in order to resolve this and not get into trouble with the AZ Dept of Revenue prior to even launching this company, i emailed my nerdy friend randy (who is actually hardly nerdy, as it turns out), and happens to be a cpa here. hopefully, he can make some sense of this nonsense. i am good with numbers like steve o is good at biochemistry…it just doesn’t work. one of the many speed bumps i’m slowly getting over in getting durtbagz off the ground.
on to the fun.
the rest of my day will be spent organizing who gets what, as far as the bags and shirts are concerned. how fun is that? as i tally everything, there is a long list of you who are getting bags and shirts. i’ll be emailing you shortly to discuss which type of bag you get and the options for signs and colors you get to choose. we’ll also be discussing t-shirt sizes and colors/signs as well. awesome. currently, we are looking at having this first round in our hands by the end of next week. theoretically, you could have durtbagz in your hands the first week of august. please try to contain your excitement. i thought i’d be freaking out, and i am, but in a good way. i’ve been sleeping like a baby lately for the first time in months. very nice (say it like borat, it sounds better).
i want to point out something about the tote bags we’ve chosen. i don’t think the site really does them justice and we’re going to photograph the finished product to put on the website. these bags are BIG, almost bigger than the messengers and the strap extends so that you can wear it across your body so it sits on your hip. the interior is gigantic and you can fit a laptop and multiple other items (books, notebooks, shoes, babies, groceries…) and still have room to spare. plus, the interior is backed with PVC so you can clean it very easily, should you decide to take it to the beach or spill whatever in it. it is definitely my favorite bag and the orange color is killer. not that the others aren’t, but i love the one i have and i’m not the only. i have confirmation that this is a great murse and multiple males i know want to carry one. so there.
the messenger is definitely more for school or the office. although the interior pocket is easily large enough for a laptop (including mine with the super-wide screen), there are lots of little compartments on the front that can carry anything from the power cord to cell phones to chargers to pens/pencils. great organization on the front of this bag.
so there you have it. oh, descriptions of the shirts you say? three holes; two arm and a head. they’re incredible.
i’m curious…what do you think you’ll use your durtbag for?
