hope you enjoyed my bon jovi rant on friday. i had been carrying that around for a long time. felt good to let it go.
this week, i’m feeling not as overwhelmed and i like it. last week was such a mad dash to see what is out there and where i fit in that i almost threw my computer in the pool. i threw myself in on friday afternoon instead. much betta.
so, in all of this research on websites and blogs that would have to do with my industry, i’ve come across a few really cool fashion sites and i wanted to share them. most are for indie fashion (read: they find cool stuff from small, independent brands and promote them on their sites). the commentary from most of them is as great as the cool products they feature. my friend katie sent one along to me called dailycandy and it quickly became a new favorite. whoever writes for them…genius. katie told me it made her laugh out loud multiple times for each post she read. it’s true and hilarious. any fashion site that can somehow incorporate the term ‘herps’ in it, i’ll read.
another great site is called birdfight and i like this one not only because they feature cool, random stuff, but also because they are super into eco-friendly. and if you comment, they write funny responses to it. creative writers also hang here.
indie fixx is another great one. they are a bit heavy on the companies located in nyc, and have loads of sweet stuff. the commentary isn’t that funny, but the goods are pretty cool. some are pretty pricey, though.
the last one is the cool hunter. now, this site is the site that features stuff that really, you’d never wear, but apparently, falls under the category of ‘cool’ (whatever that is). i say never wear, unless you are that person that would like to be the first to sport a sequined ball that belongs on a christmas tree on your arm as a bracelet. i’m not that person, however, i am the person who will laugh at that person. out loud. a lot. who wants a big sequined ball on their wrist? how do you write with that thing on? can you reach things you got out of a vending machine with it? oh right. that person also doesn’t eat. never mind.
i’m off to re-org my computer. it got a virus this weekend and i had to basically clean it out so it’s back to how it came out of the box. then i’m starting on the rough drafts of my press release. yipee!!
