want some good news? okay. it looks like we’ll be launching monday or tuesday at the latest. it will be tuesday if we can’t get the privacy stuff on my domain taken off to do the SSL certificate (the thing that protects your credit info when you buy a bag). otherwise, we’re on for a monday launch!!!
i’m so happy!!!! today, i worked on the little things of the site all day; posting new bag photos, checking to make sure the shopping cart is up to speed with all of the options (bags, colors, shipping…), posting signs to help kick-off the competition, posting a blog post on the site, editing the terms/privacy/shipping/return policy pages (super fun…right). and making a list of things for the developers which will be done tomorrow.
while i was doing all of this stuff today, i actually saw changes being done to my site. the photos on the template were updated, the links were changed to the right pages, little things that hadn’t worked before now do. pretty much, the home page and the store are the two pages that need the final touches and we’re good to go.
not only am i super, super pumped, i’m also now scared shitless. ha! i’ve been so focused on trying to light a fire under these guys that i had kind of forgotten how scary it will be to actually run a business. and it’s scary. good scary, but still scary.
the cool thing is that i have a pretty specific audience (college and a couple years before and after), i’ve made a spread sheet of two different groups of specific people to contact. it totals almost 100 students at over 70 universities across the country. and when i took a look at those lists today, i got so excited. almost 100 people that i get to introduce to durtbagz! finally. will they all love it? hell, no. but some will and those some have friends. and their friends have friends. this will work.
anyway, the final straw was that i told the web guys yesterday that i was firing them and that i knew i could legally get out of my contract and keep their work up to now. this might have been a wee bit of a bluff and maybe not the smartest move, but 30 minutes later, things started moving on durtbagz.com. and fast. and i received two phone calls yesterday with questions and updates. wow. ridiculous that it had to come to that, but whatever, i’ll take it.
anyway, i wanted to update you with the good news. obviously, when we do go live, you’ll see it here:)
thanks for your support. it’s kinda lonely being an entrepreneur and hearing from all of you during this helped a lot.
