durtbagz bagz are now $34.95, down from $39.99 and shirtz are $16.95, down from $19.99. also, the shipping rates have been reduced, now that i’m shipping via USPS. shirtz are now $5 shipped anywhere and bagz are $10. that is a $11 decrease in total price for shirtz and $8 for bagz. this is not a limited time only offer; this is a long-term move. why? because i wouldn’t pay that right now. because i think it would feel something like this:
i was talking with a friend the other night at tennis, and she told me about a massage therapist that works at a local, very high end resort that had started doing massages out of her house for extra cash. my friend had just gotten one that week and said it was incredible. i asked how much she was charging: $40 FOR AN HOUR. unheard of price. hell, even if it was double that, it would still be a steal for an hour massage in this city. needless to say, i’m going to get one from her next week. because i don’t want to pay $140 an hour anymore, but i sure as hell will pay $40. and probably more than once.
we began talking about spending practices and the situation with the economy. people are learning fast that they don’t have to spend a lot of money to have the things they want. we were talking about how ridiculous things were priced before this, and now things are getting back to reality.
of course i’ll pay $40 for an hour massage, because i can afford that; it’s worth every bit of the $40. and that got me to thinking about my pricing. would i drop $20 plus $13 shipping on a freaking t-shirt right now? um, no. i wouldn’t. what about bags? $53 for a bag, after shipping? probably not, even if the bag is awesome.
i would pay $22 total, for a shirt. without batting an eye, because that is a great deal for a limited edition shirt that i know i’ll wear forever. i’d also feel great about dropping $22 on someone else for some funky gifts, or someone in need of a zombies shirt. which…is everyone.
plunking down $45 for a bag that you know will last forever, is easier than parting with $53. i hate spending money and anything that goes up over the $5o mark pisses me off. $45 for a killer teacher tote bag, shipped? okay.
“affordable boutique” is what my friend and i decided is going to be the new, big thing. killer, unique clothes and accessories, for affordable prices. get something you know not everyone else will have, for prices like you’d find at target.
so, there you have it. the new prices are ones that i would pay right now. and i’d like to think that i’m one of you. so, let’s hear your thoughts. do you agree with the new pricing? how do you feel about the “affordable boutique” theory?
